I am very lucky to have so many friends in class, who make me feel like at home. What’s more, I have a lot of hobbies and interests, which allows me to make more friends on the way.
考官录音：Thank you. Candidate B, now it’s your turn.
B：Hey, I’m Wang Nan, just call me Peter if you want. I am from Chongqing University and I really enjoy the spicy food in the local area. My major is Physics, but I am also interested in other activities, such as swimming and jogging. And I also did some internship in a local company during the last summer holiday.
考官录音：Thank you. OK, now that we know each other, let’s go on. First, I’d like to ask each of you a question.
Now Candidate A/B:
1.Where do you usually have your meals? How do you like the food there?
OK, I prefer to eat in a restaurant called The Sushi Samba, because I will have a lot of choices and I can follow the latest menu in the restaurant and cook it for myself later. Also, it is a ? good way to hang out with my friends, because I don't have to wash the dishes for an hour after having dinner at home, which is definitely a plus.
2.Which dishes do you prefer, meat or vegetables? Why?
I think I definitely love vegetables more than meat, as I am always such a believer when it comes to a healthy lifestyle, so a healthy diet is absolutely my thing, which means more vegetables and less meat. Just balanced diet, you know. I really think we should follow those tips, as they are from doctors and scientists.
3.Do you find the food in your canteen expensive? Why do you say so?
No, I don’t think it is expensive, as eating at canteen is very efficient, we don't have to prepare for the material or cook anything. This really helps us save a lot time and energy so that we can put our time into better use. I think our money is well spent.
4.What snacks and drinks do you usually have? Why?
Well, it really depends. For instance, if I am all by myself, then I will just order Dim Sum or milk tea, even just a piece of cheese cake. I mean the choice is always the easiest when you are alone. However, if I have a bunch of friends with me, we probably will have the hotpot or Beijing roast duck.
5.Which do you prefer, Chinese dishes or Western dishes? Why?
Alright, I like Chinese dishes more,as it is healthier than Western Food, especially the junk food, such as the KFC or McDonald’s, which can help me keep fit. Besides, I will have more choices in a Chinese restaurant. It really does have more dishes on the menu, so I can eat my favourite food whenever I want to. That’s why I like Chinese food more.
Part 2 (10 minutes)
考官录音：Now let’s move on to something more specific. The topic for our discussion today is“Food Safety”. Each of you will see a card with instructions for your presentation. You’ll have one minute to prepare, and each of you will have one and a half minutes to give your presentation. Now look at your card.
The importance of Food Safety
Problems in Food Safety
Now CandidateA, please begin.
Food safety is such a hot topic right now.
Firstly, it influences people’s health. Many people think that cooking could be a waste of time, which is true.It can be a long process for one dish. Sometimes, it is more than an hour. As a result, many people go to restaurants for lunch or supper. Their health could be in danger if the food they are served is insanitary or unsafe.
Also, if people are misled by the idea that the food in the restaurants is not safe, this harms the business of every Café, Canteen and restaurant as a whole. Many honest business owners will be collateral damage by this wrongly projected image.
That’s why we have to ensure the food safety for the sake of both customers and business owners.
Candidate B, now it’s your turn.
Well the problems in food safety are obvious.
To begin with, the regulation in this whole industry is not effective. Finding out there are some bugs or body hair in the soup that served in some restaurant is no surprise when I am reading newspaper, but the restaurant that made it to the news still opens. Nobody cares about it. Not even the government.
Besides, the customers never fully realize that they have the right to report and sue the owner who is responsible for the food safety. If the customers don’t try to protect themselves, no one will. Just think, even the exposure of the media is not working.
Those two things are my biggest concerns now.
考官录音：Right. Now that we’ve talked briefly about food safety, I’d like you to develop this topic further and have a discussion for about four and a half minutes. During the discussion you may argue and ask each other questions. Our discussion is about
how to ensure food safety.?
Remember, this is a pair activity and you need to interact with each other. So don’t keep talking without giving the other a chance. Now let’s begin.
A: Well, I think the government can definitely help to ensure food safety. You know, the government should devote more money and more attention into the problems that are at hand. For instance, they can invest in some new supervision systems or hire more people to guarantee the policy about food safety is carefully carried out. What do you think?
B: I agree. Also, I think the government can put out some new advertisements to arouse the awareness of people about what they should do when they encounter with problems related with food safety, for instance, what number they should call or who they should turn to for help. You know, the little things that help are what matter the most. What else can we do?
A: I also think we can learn from other countries, such as America or Japan. I have never been to those places before, but I was told they have a higher standard when it comes to food safety,so maybe we should raise the bar a little bit as well. How do you feel about it?
B: Yeah, yeah, definitely. I read it somewhere as well. What’s more, I guess it’s also the time to raise the moral standard of the public too. People just need to realize that they should do what’s right, rather than what’s easy. Right?
A: So true, I can’t agree more.
考官录音：All right, that’s the end of the discussion.
Part3 (1 minute)
考官录音：Now I’dlike to ask you just one last question on the topic of “Food Safety”.
1. Why are people more concerned about food safety these days?
Maybe it’s because food safety concerns everyone. We all have to eat every day, but there have been too many horrible incidents over this topic. On one hand, healthy food benefits my health and makes me full of energy. On the other hand, insanitary food attacks my body every time when I eat it. Of course, people worry over this matter. It would be stupid not to.
2. Why do some young people like junk food?
I don’t think they like the junk food. They eat it, because they don’t have to wash the plates and pans after cooking. And they don't like the smell in the kitchen, you know; it is very greasy and hard to get rid of, and will stick with them for the whole day, so they were attracted to the convenience and trouble-free idea that is offered by the highly standard international chain restaurant services, a.k.a, junk food restaurant services.
3. What do you think of some people going on a diet?
I will root for them as long as they don’t hurt themselves. I always think health is the most important thing. Obesity is the opposite of that, going on a diet in order to be a healthier version of oneself is definitely very cool. Just don’t overdo it, don’t be too hard on yourself and everything will be fine.
4. Why do some people choose to eat vegetarian food only?
I can only assume they want to maintain a healthier body or maybe it’s because of their religion. I have never met anyone like this before in my daily life. And I never have the heart for that myself, but I think this is a very personal choice, so I definitely respect vegetarian and what they believe in.
OK,that’s the end of the test. Thank you.
